General Note: Opportune is not a verb and must not be used
as such. You must not add any –ed suffix to it. For example:

note that opportune is stressed on
the first syllable: OP-por-tune.
This is a common mistake for majority of English speakers. What I am seeing here shows that we don't really understand English language at all.

ReplyDeleteEven there is a topic of discussion on Nairaland under family that reads: If opportuned, will you still marry your same wife again? Hundreds of people contributed to this topic but no one has ever noticed the wrong usage.

ReplyDeleteShort of words. Even sum authors have used ds word wrongly over d years. Now i know better that if something happens at an opportuned time or is opportune, it happens at the time that is most convenient for someone or most likely to lead to success.. Therefore, it is correct to say, the timing of the meetings was opportune.
